Hi to all those that have been reading my blog.Sorry for the late replies just that i have a few tests before so was a little busy back then.About my two CIP activities,I have done one at ECON Medicare centre and one at the beach cleanup at Changi Beach.
ECON Medicare Centre:
Before I reached there ,I thought that it was going to be a chore but after that,I realised that it was a breeze and it was quite fun talking to the old folks and learning more about their lives before they came to this Medicare centre.I also learnt that not all people in Singapore leaded a good life, living comfortably in their own condominiums ,HDB flats or landed houses.Im also learnt that we should be filial and respectful to our parents and not send them to old folks home,so that they will be able to live a happier life with their family instead of living on their own with strangers all around them.
Cleanup at Changi Beach:
The same as the CIP done at the centre,I thought that it would be a very arduous and tring activity but later when I was doing it with my friend,Teo Junkai.I found out that it was quite fun to do CIP activity with peers because they cracked jokes that would make me be more aware of the litter and rubbish at the Changi beach instead of zoning out into space and building sandcastles in the air. After our clearing of thrashes at the beach ,the enitre area seemed to be more pleasant and less polluted. In this way,we also helped to reduce water pollution and air pollution and makes it more attractive to the community. We also observed a lot of cigarettes butts thrown on the grass by inconsiderate smokers in the public. We also discovered a lot of people pitching tents by the coastline. Not sure if they were campers or temporary dwellers by the coastline.
This is a growing trend in Singapore as it is badly hit by the economic downturn.Lots of poor who cant afford to payoff their HDB flats are forced to sell away their flats. Then these people will make use of the public facilities such as toilets and bathrooms and pitch tents to live at the seaside.i hope our government will think of a way to solve the housing problems faced by the poor and needy Singaporeans.
Thank you.
